Sightings May 2018

You don’t really need a boat to see whales or dolphins.. or turtles too! This month we have received some sightings spotted from land in Lanzarote, Canary Islands: a baleen whale heading to Fuerteventura, a turtle swimming very (very!) close to the shore, and a big group of dolphins feeding spotted by our partners Ocean Conservation from the marina. Thank you!

Furthermore, sailing towards Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) one of our partners have seen bottlenose dolphins bowriding his sailboat.

Once again, nautic sports in Galicia (NW Spain) becomes a great source 🙂 This month, Club de Remo Puebla gave us another sighting of three bottlenose dolphins in the harbour. And during the rowing competition “Territorial Norte de Trainerillas” organized by Club de Remo Cabo da Cruz, at least one more bottlenose was around. While coming back from a diving trip, Atlantis Buceo saw one big group of bottlenose dolphins in Ria de Vigo.

And do you remember Viking Explorers?? Fifteen sailboats sailing across the Atlantic organized by 8 Islas and recording whales and dolphins on their way. They have send us their sightings.. dolphins all over! Have a look!

Species sighted this month: bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales, Atlantic spotted dolphins, turtle, baleen whale
