Sail & Whale at Marina Rubicón

To celebrate our first anniversary, Sail & Whale has been at Marina Rubicón sharing the project with sailors and friends last Monday. It has been fantastic! Sharing experiences, stories, ideas, and of course, getting to know better the project. After one year of work, we are proud to share our achievements, but as well the challenges we’ve been through! And the best way to finish this meeting… with chocolate cake!!!

Several sailors have joined us, some of them sailing in family for some months, some wintering in the Canaries, some with several Atlantic crossings, and good friends like Ocean Conservation! … wide public, different perspectives, and one common feeling! Ocean Conservation is a must!

It has been a real pleasure to spend the afternoon surrounded by great people like you!

Sail & Whale at the II Symposium on Biodiversity…

And this time we went back to Almería to present our first year of Sail & Whale. Great memories from the last year have lead to a warm welcome and a lot of interest on the evolution of the project. Its secret has been proudly shown once again: great people with different backgrounds and different points of view directly involved to make it work. And it does! SYNERGY!

An efective and succesful network of Sailors, Citizens & Scientists.

Almost 300 sightings of 19 different species in less than one year.

Furthermore, another radio program has been recorded, and Sail & Whale has been one of the projects chosen to develop one of the workshops about science for conservation.

How can we thank all of you??  :))))

Sail & Whale conference with BioBlau

Last thursday (2/3/2017) we were at the University of Valencia sharing our project with all the students who have attended to the conference.

We are very grateful to Bioblau, Group d’estudiants de Biologia Marina, for the invitation to participate in their cycle of conferences Parlem del Mar, and for the excellent organization of the event.

Thanks as well to all the people who have come to share time, experiences and questions with us. We’ve got a great feedback to keep on working and improving Sail & Whale.

It has been a real pleasure to spend some time with you all!

Sail & Whale at the first Symposium of Biodiversity…

SW-Conserbio 2016

Sail & Whale has been recently presented in the first Symposium on Biodiversity and Nature Conservation held in the University of Almería (Spain) last September. This congress aims to disseminate scientific knowledge about the protection and conservation of species and ecosystems, as well as to strongly promote and endorse the collaboration between science and society.

The oral presentation has been a total success! It was awarded as the best presentation within the category of “Biodiversity and Marine Conservation: Challenges for the Global Ecological Balance”. But the best price was the excellent feedback from the audience, lots of questions, ideas and suggestions to keep on improving the project. We would like to warmly thank all the people who showed their interest, which undoubtedly makes this project grow stronger.
